Care Instructions for Baby Alpaca Knits
Washing
- Hand wash only in cool or lukewarm water (max 86°F/30°C)
- Use a gentle, pH-neutral detergent specifically for wool or delicates
- Gently squeeze suds through the fabric - never wring or twist
- Soak for no more than 3-5 minutes
Rinsing & Drying
- Rinse thoroughly in cool water until all soap is removed
- Gently press out excess water - do not wring
- Roll in a clean towel to absorb moisture
- Lay flat on a dry towel to air dry, reshaping to original dimensions
- Never hang or tumble dry - this can stretch or damage the fibers
- Keep away from direct heat and sunlight
Storage
- Store clean and completely dry
- Fold (never hang) and store in a breathable cotton bag
- Add cedar balls or lavender sachets to deter moths naturally
Pilling & Maintenance
- Light pilling is natural and can be gently removed with a sweater comb or fabric shaver
- Allow knits to rest between wears to maintain their shape

Cleaning
- Wipe with a slightly damp cloth and mild soap if needed
- Dry immediately with a soft cloth
- Never soak or submerge in water
- Do not put in the dishwasher or washing machine
Maintenance
- Occasionally treat with food-safe mineral oil, beeswax, or coconut oil to prevent drying
- Apply a thin layer, let it absorb for 10-15 minutes, then buff with a soft cloth
- Check regularly for splinters or rough edges and sand lightly if needed
Storage
- Store in a dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources
- Avoid damp environments that can cause warping or mold
- Keep away from extreme temperature changes
